Notification Rules Engine

The Pathfinder Notification Rules Engine represents a significant step forward in event notification technology. Combined with our real-time FAA flight status, GDS flight status and FAA airport delay information, event notification services allow you unprecedented visibility into your shipments – without having to manually monitor flights and airports.

Capabilities
With Pathfinder-XML Notification Services, you can:
- Create and maintain rules for flight status and airport delay notification using the API or the Pathfinder-Web GUI
- Send text notification messages to specified email addresses and pagers (long or short format)
- Send XML notification messages to a server via SOAP or XML/HTTP
How the Notification Rules Engine Works
The Notification Rules Engine continuously checks incoming flight status and airport delay events against the triggering rules you have created. When an event occurs that matches an active rule, the event information is sent to the location specified in the rule.
So, how is this an improvement to current approaches?
- You don’t have to manually monitor a flight. The system will notify you when something important happens.
- You gain early visibility into potential flight problems using the airport delay notification service, thereby giving you more time to evaluate options.
- You get notified of cancellations and diversions
- You can setup a rule to notify you a specified period of time prior to flight arrival
Setting Notification Rules
Airport notification rules support the following capabilities:
- Unlimited number of rules
- Apply rule to all airports or to selected airports
- Trigger events based on airport closure, ground stop, ground delay, general arrival delay, and general departure delay
- Trigger delay notification only when delay time exceeds specified time threshold
- Apply rule to all dates or to a specified date
Flight status notification rules support the following capabilities:
- Unlimited number of rules
- Apply rule to a specific flight, one or more carriers, or all carriers
- Apply rule to a single airport or a list of airports
- Apply rule to all dates or a specified date
- Trigger events based on flight departs (wheels up), flight arrives (wheels down) or flight plan changes (cancelled, diverted, etc.)
Examples of the tools provided by Pathfinder-XML to create and manage airport delay and flight status notification rules are shown in the screen shots. There is also a set of API commands for managing rules in addition to the GUI shown.
